Monday, Monday......

 It was a lazy, rainy day yesterday but I glued acid free paper to the back of my angel and it's been sitting overnight. Today I hope to trim it up and attach all the "littles".

I got caught up on my iStitch SAL.. I think there are only 3 more to go and I'm hoping I can squeak them on my fabric. I had a large area at the top of my banding with a flaw in the weaving and had to start much further down than usual. I've had my fingers crossed that I would make it to the end...otherwise I will have to leave off the last couple bands....we'll see!!!

Rainy Days.....

 

 We have been getting some much needed rain yesterday and today...high of 76 expected today....yippee!!!

Yesterday was such a pleasant day...the DVHSG meeting was very informative with Linda Vinson of Needlemade Designs giving a presentaion about her Civil War Huswif. I need to revisit some family history but believe my great, great grandfather fought for the confederacy and was a prisoner of war in a Union camp. I found out my grandmother was born in Richmond, VA, which I never knew until my daughter moved to that area (and yes, we followed).

We had a small group for RVA Stitchers, just 4 of us, but it was very nice to talk "stitching" and share our projects.

I worked on the iStitch SAL last night and have one more week to do to catch up by this Friday. Sorry so dark and wrinkled but it's a lazy Sunday morning!

 

Luke finally ate some food...after I added some shredded cheese. He's a good dog but very protective. He sits right by me or Rich and is sleeping at the foot of our bed. He's very laid back until he sees another dog or feels threatened. He went a little bezerk on our screened porch this morning when he saw our neighbor's little dog out walking. I have to be careful when walking him as he is very strong, so Rich is doing most of the walking duty.

Sorry but I wanted to mention again about the no-reply blogger comments, as I can't respond to you. Sue H..it's so nice to 'meet' you and I appreciate your tip about turning corners; I had never heard that in all my years of sewing. I found your blog but no e-mail was listed, so I'm responding here.

One down, One to Go.......

 Today is a busy day...I have a zoom meeting with the Delaware Historical Sampler Guild this morning, a presentation by Linda Vinson on her Civil War Huswife. Then, this afternoon, getting together with the RVA Stitchers at Panera.....looking forward to both!

I managed to get the Spirit of Christmas Angel cut out and these are the amazing scissors I used. A friend gave them to me years ago and they have the sharpest points that work great on the perforated paper.

Here is the finish of Hope, Love and Joy by Samsarah. I wasn't necessarily planning on the bow, but accidentally "pushed" through that corner while turning...UGH!!!! It was a fairly loose linen and I should have been more careful! Anyway, it was easily corrected and then I could add the cute little pine cone charm.

 Luke, we are dog sitting my daughter's dog, didn't eat yesterday....hopefully he'll eat something today!!! We figure he misses his family!

Hot Days Stitching.....

 

It's been steamy hot here..perfect stitching weather!!! I finished up the stitching on two projects yesterday...one on going and one a quick catch up for a SAL. The first is Spirit of Christmas Angel by Brooke's Books. This was a car project started back in March since it's on perforated paper. I used the called for DMC fibers but substituted the metallics with sizes/colors I had on hand. I'm always nervous when it comes to cutting these out and I've never stitched one this big with all the add ons. I think I have the perfect pair of scissors and will hope for the best...patience is not always my forte!!!

 And, I am now caught up with the #12in22ornamentSAL..this being my May contribution. I have had this chart since 2000, but always on the back burner. There is something about its simplicity that I loved. Here is Hope, Love and Joy by Samsarah. It's stitched on a mystery linen with the called for GAST. The button is from JABCO; I thought the word appropriate for today and moving forward.

 This is my protector for the week...we are dog sitting our Grand Pup Luke. He plops himself down next to me wherever I am sitting...such a sweet dog!

Couldn't Wait to Share.... 656-657

 

I am tickled to say that I managed to get both my ornaments finished yesterday, and I am so happy with how they turned out.

First up is the 1990 Santa by Prairie Schooler. I stitched him on 40 ct Sand Dune, over one with the called for DMC. I did leave off the border and the birds that were on the heads of the lower critters. Easy-peasy finish...just put some iron on interfacing on the back of the stitching, cut to size and popped in the frame. I get these frames from Michaels and love to check them out every year. They usually have a "year" charm, sometimes hanging loose and sometimes embossed on the frame. Luckily, this was a hanging charm and I could take it off, as it was from 2021. The size of the frame is 2 1/4 X 3.

 Up next is the sweet stocking from Flora McSample's 2013 Stockings by Lizzie Kate. This was stitched on 30 ct WDW Straw, over two, with Vicki Clayton Silks. The cute little charm was found after Christmas last year at JoAnn's. Hildi Jo has some adorable seasonal charms and jewelry that can work as charms.  I had the backing fabric in my stash and it worked perfectly because of the pink stars.

 Now if the weather would be more Christmas-like!!!

Stitchy Unwind......

 We returned from our visit to family picnics in Maryland and enjoyed the comfort of A/C last night. Two days of sitting outside in the heat/humidity was enough! Granted, I enjoyed every moment I spent catching up with cousins and friends but, oh, cooler temps would have been much appreciated.

I was able to "top off " my contribution to the 12in22ornament SAL and just need to pop it in its frame. I left off the border and birds on the tails of the two lower critters, as the tiny frame has a busy pattern and I thought it would be too much. Hopefully, I'll get that done today and can share as an FFO tomorrow.

 I picked out some backing fabric from my stash that I think will work with this stocking...hope to get that FFO'd soon.

We're in for a hot one today..I will only venture out to water my plants and get an oil change!!! Stay cool everyone...thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

Happy Fourth of July!!!

 Here is the family...at least those that attended...there are many more! Four generations descended from Mary Duke and James E. Codd, my grandparents. My grandmother was the eldest of 14, my Dad one of seven. My generation consisted of 35 cousins. The fourth generation I've lost count of!!! It was a great day reconnecting! I'm the one in red under the flag.
