A Gift Given.....716

I spent the day yesterday stitching at my friend Lisa's house. I was able to give her her birthday gift...a few days early. This is Be My Friend by The Scarlett House. This was a club kit I found on the second hand market. It was done on 32 ct. Wren by PTP with WDW fibers.

I spent the other day figuring out the changes I'm making to Boardwalk Revue and One Nation. Here is what I've started on One Nation.....I'll share the before and after when I get it all worked out.

We're off to see my parents for a couple days..have a good week! Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

A Little Sticthing Going On...........

There has been very little stitching going on at my house...in between seeing the movie Oppenheimer,  getting my sewing room in some sort of order and back to school shopping. I've always taken the grands shopping for school clothes with a set amount for a budget. Asher and Cora each got one item that blew their budget; Esther got 4 shirts and a hoodie (a bargain shopper after my own heart) and James is yet to decide what he wants.  School starts Monday!!!

But, here is what I've been working on......One Nation by Samplers Not forgotten.  I love this section...just have a tiny bit at the bottom to do, then on to the the final part. I'm going to ponder that part for a while...may do something different..we shall see!

I want to give a shout out to my friend, Lisa. She has started a floss tube channel called Lady Huzzah Presents. She just finished episode 4 and it is a dandy with loads of eye candy!!! Do you like how I rhymed that up??? LOL She shares all her Merry Cox pieces, which are exquisite, and how Merry was so influential in her stitching journey. Sadly, Merry's pieces, for the most part, are only available via a class. But, Lisa gives you a list of a fair number that are available in old magazines issues from Just Cross Stitch  and SANQ.
Check it out when you have the time, definitely worth watching for inspiration.

Do any of you watch Ted Lasso on Apple TV? We just finished the third and final season and I have to say I am in love with Ted. I didn't care for all the cursing, and assume that's what a locker room is like, but Ted himself, is the best. It's a little rough and tumble, with many flawed characters but they work things out with kindness and understanding...a message we all need today!

I hope you all have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

Beach Please.....715

Oh, I have been anxiously waiting to post this, but I had to wait for an "H". I started stitching Beach Please by Hands on Design, as a car project, in June on our way to and from Virginia Beach. I finished up all the squares on various car trips; they were quick and easy to do on the 14 ct. perforated paper. I found a perfect "beachy" looking  frame to use with a shadow box effect at Hobby Lobby. However, it was designed to use the 'flat' side, not the recessed side. So, I had to do some finagling to cover up some screw/staple holes on the side I wanted showing. I used buttons to cover up the corner joins and scrabble tiles to hide holes across the top where they had a hanger attached.  I have a bag of old scrabble tiles, but was missing an "H", so I searched and found some old game tiles on Ebay..... I usually pick up old scrabble games at yard sales. I am very tickled with how it turned out!  I am planning on giving it to my BIL and SIL since they live in Wilmington, NC and love the beach. But, I am going to enjoy it until we see them. Pssst...I love the  beach too!

On A Roll.....714

Good morning! It's Friday..are you ready for the weekend? I'm planning on attending the zoom meeting o the DVHSG tomorrow morning and then attending RVA Stitchers in the afternoon. Let's hope things go as planned.

I've been doing the Common Threaded Stitcher prompts on IG and a lady responded that she lives in the same area as me...how exciting...I'm hoping we can meet up at some time. If you want to check out my IG, I am @stasibbee. The CTS events are a fun way to meet other stitchers, albeit mostly on line, and see what the are all about.

Here is the piece I FFO's.....Bittersweet September by Blackbird Designs. This was a club kit that I got on the second hand market. Everything was included except the charm, stuffing and ribbon closure. It was stitched on 32 count Korty's Special Blend by R&R fabrics with GAST fibers.

This is my piece for an exchange in the fall. I hope my recipient likes it!

I forgot to add some photos from our recent family visits.

My parents and all the great grands.

The Barbie  movie outing

My parents and Jax....don't you just want to squeeze those chub chubs???

I hope you have a nice weekend that includes some relaxing, stitching time. Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

I'd Rather Bee Sticthing.....713

I have a finish to share...this should be my mantra ....."I'd rather bee stitching"!  It is what I love to do and I try to put in some stitches every day....doesn't always work out that way, but I try.

Here is I'd Rather Be Stitching by Primrose Cottage Stitches....such a sweet piece. This was my August project for Summer Cross Stitch Camp with Sherri, the Colorado Stitcher. The prompt was to stitch something new to you. This was my first time working with Gumnut threads and my first project with this particular designer.  I was drawn to the colors and the saying, of course, but also it's simplicity. I stitched it on a 28 ct. mystery fabric and used fibers I had in my stash.. a mix of CC, Silks4U and Gumnut silks. I finished it into a small pillow using "bee" fabrics I had in my stash. A little addition of some pins and voila....a finished project!

I also finished the stitching on another of the Polar Plunge series for the grands....Penguin Pair   by Hands on Design. Five down and one to go!

I'm heading to JoAnns this morning. My daughter asked me to make a couple pillow cases for Jax. I've sent his birth sampler off to my framer and will be anxiously awaiting her magic.

I hope you have a great day...thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

And it's HOT Again......

We had a very nice week, weather wise, in the low 80's with low humidity. But now the heat is back...not happy! But...my stitching awaits!

I thought I'd start today with my August displays...part beach, part harvest. Here you go...........

Hope you enjoyed my displays....now on to some stitching. I can't show one piece at this time, as it's a birthday gift for a friend. But, I did finish my camp project for August. It was a very quick stitch and I wanted to knock it out knowing I had other obligations. Here is I'd Rather Bee Stitching by Primrose Cottage Stitches. I'm showing the fabrics I will use to make the little pillow.

Yesterday, we drove about 2 1/2 hours for my hubby to check out a used pick up truck. His current one is a 2005 with 225,000 miles on it and is dying a slow death...A/C not working, one window doesn't always go back up, etc. He needed me to drive our car back if he bought one. He did......a 2019 Chevy Colorado, which looks exactly like his 2005 Chevy Colorado but with only    98,000 miles on it. He will drive this one 'til he dies too!!!

So, on the way up, I managed to get one of the tiny squares from Hands on Design's Beach Please stitched. The other two I had already done on a previous trip. I think I only have two more to go.

Now to do my knee exercises before I sit down and stitch. Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

Whew..a bit of a Whirlwind..... and Some Catching Up.......712

When last I posted I was getting ready to leave for a weekend of stitching with friends in PA. Lisa arrived at my house and we drove to Lebanon, PA to visit Vickie and Deb, friends I have made through events at Salty Yarns. Janice and Janelle joined us for a day each too. It was a great time with lots of good food, conversation and, of course, stitching. I had made little gifts for the ladies

and a special gift for our hostess with the most-est, Vickie.

This is one of four designs from Milady's Needle Quaker Pendant II. I stitched it over one with Vikki Clayton silk ,Old Maid of the Forest, on 32 ct Luna linen by Lakeside Linens. The pendant came with the kit, but I added the scissor charm.

Lisa gifted us small tool boxes and I just love mine. First, it's green!!! Second it's perfect to stash with my stitching when traveling.

While there I worked on my Boardwalk Revue  and Penguin Pair.

We started the drive to my parents on Tuesday morning, lost GPS for awhile and had to backtrack...but we made it...scooped my parents up...got some lunch then started the drive home. What should have been about a 3 hour drive, wound up taking 5 1/2 hours!!! We were late to dinner with the family, but had a welcoming committee waiting outside for us.

The next day my younger daughter and Jax arrived for 5 days, so we had a full house!!! We didn't do much because of the heat....100 for two days in a row and upper 90's the rest of the time. Rich took my parents home Sunday. So, no stitching happened while the company was here....and I really missed it. I gave my daughter the Santa 'cookie' mat and she liked it.

Since yesterday was August 1st, I had to pick a new project for summer camp with Sherri, Colorado Stitcher.  The prompt this  month was to try something new...a designer, fabric, fiber, etc.. I chose a new designer, Primrose Cottage Stitches. The piece is called I'd Rather Be Stitching and sorta is my mantra....I'd much rather stitch than anything else!!! I'll be stitching this on a 28 ct. mytery white fabric with Classic Colorworks, Silks4 U and Gumnut fibers. I've never used the Gumnut before either.

I think that's it for today...hope to be home for awhile and stitching! Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!
