A Busy Finishing Day......663-665

Yesterday was quiet and rainy, a perfect day to hit the finishing pile. I'm going to get right to it and share the finishes.

First Queen of the Needle by Hands on Design. This was a kit that included the 18 ct. perforated paper, black floss, charm, ribbon, felt and backing card stock....didn't need to add a thing except needles. Cathy gave you a choice of 'titles'...queen, lady, lord, boss and I went with Lady. I think this may only be available on Cathy's web site.

Next up is my August project for Summer Stitch Camp with the Colorado Stitcher. We had to choose something to stitch that was new to us. I chose this chart, Antique Cups and Spoons by Shakespeare's Peddler since I had never stitched one of her designs. It's done on a 32 ct mystery linen over two, but wouldn't this be adorable over one? I also used a new to me fiber, Gumnuts #969, and finished like the original piece.

Last, but not least, is the first Christmas ornament for our newest grandson. It's Santa Arrives Tonight  by Homespun Elegance, stitched on 30 ct. Friendship Blue by R&R with the called for fibers. I went with the ric-rac around the edge.....thanks Robin and Marilyn!

A Sweet New Start........662

I had a great stitchy day yesterday, but not much actual stitching was accomplished. I did stitch through the DVHSG meeting, as we had the same class with my local Guild back in April. But, as usual, I always pick up a new tidbit/hint or two. I'm so happy they are continuing the Zoom format so we away members can attend.

This was the class....Needlebook Collage  by Erica Michaels. I forgot to post about it because it was when Jax came into our lives and I was a bit distracted! :) It's a mixed media piece where you stitch a tiny piece on 40 ct. silk gauze that says "needles". Then you do a little hodge podge of scrap booking, using bits and bobs of ribbon, buttons, paper, fabric, charms etc.. It's a great introduction to silk gauze. Here are two of my versions:

In the afternoon, I met in person with the RVA Stitchers. We meet at a local Panera and stitch a couple hours together. I started Honeybees and Blooms Pinwheel by Honeycomb and Threads. It was a kit offered at the Prim Stitcher's Retreat a couple years ago. I don't usually get much done, as there is a lot of chatting and sharing...always a fun time.

Today, we're off to Fredericksburg, VA to have lunch with a friend of mine and her hubby. We've been friends for 60+years so it's always a good time.

Hope you're having a nice weekend...thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

Join Me for a Cuppa......

I finished the stitching on Antique Cups and Spoons by Shakespeare's Peddler. It's stitched on a 32 ct. 'mystery' linen with Gumnuts silk # 969. I kind of wish I had done it over one; I think it would look precious tiny. As is, I will finish it into a small pillow similar to the designer's original piece.

After finishing the previous piece I pulled out The Sweet Shop by Living on the Rainbow and put some stitches in on it. It's just the portion I'm working on shown, as I can't photograph the whole piece without taking off the scroll rod.

I have a busy day today....meeting with the DVHSG in the AM and RVA Stitchers in the PM. I love getting together with my fellow needlework devotees and look forward to the gatherings. Charging my Halo lamp as we speak!!!

As an aside, Have any of you watched Peaky Blinders on Netflix? My hubby has been watching it 'in the background' and I was ignoring at first, since it's so violent. But boy, I got sucked in and started to pay attention. It was a wild ride but has ended...at least for now....there are rumors of a movie coming...we shall see as it ended a bit up in the air.

Cooling off.......

at least for a bit.....high of 80 today rather than mid 90's...very welcome!

Some good news....I did have enough fabric to finish the iStitch SAL. I had hemmed it ahead of time to see exactly how much I had left to work with. Now I need to come up with something to put in that last little section...my name, a motif, a piece of lace??? Hmmmm!!!

A bit more on my August Summer Camp piece....

Last, I finished the stitching on Jax's first Christmas ornament....trying to decide what trim to use...pop-poms, ric-rac or cording. What do you think?

Heading to Costco this morning after trying a new breakfast restaurant, Maple Street Biscuit Company...doesn't that just sound yummy???

Have a great weekend; I have a busy one coming up. Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

A Little Beach Time.....661

I made it to my friend Lisa's yesterday and we had a lovely day. I did leave a bit early, due to impending thunderstorms, and did manage to beat them home (it's a little over an hour drive to her house). So we talked 'shop' and shared and stitched and she gifted me these adorable "bee" items.

I gave her an early birthday present...she loves the beach, as I do, and also has a fondness for Salty Yarns and the Lankford Hotel. I had stitched this for myself a few years ago and recently saw the kit for sale on FB. I snatched it up and made a set for her. I love the bright colors, smalls and memories and so, thankfully, did she! The piece is called Park it Here Beach Party Set  by Noteworthy Needle. It was a class piece and I don't know if Janice ever released it as a chart..it has a lot of moving parts, as they say.

I worked on my iStitch piece last night and can definitely fit the last week's section in...whew!!! There is only one more line to do  and I might even have space to put my name. What you see is what you get!!! :)

Do Over.....

Tire situation fixed...it was a bad sensor....and I'm off to my friends house this morning. It feels a little like Groundhog Day!!!

With my plans cancelled yesterday I was able to get some finishing in. Sadly I can't share it yet as it's for an exchange I'm participating in for the fall. Once my partner receives it, I will post here.

Then I decided to try and figure out if I can fit the last two weeks of the iStitch SAL on the fabric I have left. I counted and counted and think it's going to fit. Week 29 is on there, minus the side band, and I have about 2 1/2 -3 " of fabric left. I went ahead and hemmed the bottom edge while it was easy to work with. Stay tuned...we'll see if it makes it!
