A Couple Finishes......667-668

I finished the Costume Party yesterday on a little display (it has an easel back) stand I found at Hobby Lobby. It was stitched on 32 ct Thunderstorm with the called for DMC. I used Lady Dot trim around the edge and added a glass bead I had on hand. The party goers , which are stitched on perforated paper will come later, as they will most likely become a car project. I did dye the paper per Cathy's suggestion and method.

Next up is the exchange piece I did and had mailed the end of August. My partner has received it, so I can now share. It is Acorns Among Us by Fern Ridge. It was a little kit, so I used what came with it. There is a beaded edge across the top and bottom.

Hope you have a great week! Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

A Day We'll Never Forget.......666

Twenty one years ago the moniker 9-1-1 took on a whole different meaning. May we reflect on that horrific day and the people who were lost...and never  forget!

Image result for 911 memorial photo

I am  not a royal watcher, but was sad to hear of Queen Elizabeth's passing. Her reign began in 1952, the year I was born. I thought this montage of the queen was so sweet. She certainly brought a lot of 'color' into the world.

May be an image of 15 people and people standing

I have a little finish today..... that was a car project...... Peace on Earth by Mill Hill....it seemed fitting for today. It was stitched on 14 ct perforated paper with supplied threads and beads. This will count for my October ornament in the #12in22ornamentstitchalong hosted by our friend, Carol, on IG.

Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship! And do me a favor.....hug your loved ones today!!!

Back Home......

........after a wonderful three days in OCMD at my happy place......

This is the back of a tee shirt I treated myself to

The weather wasn't the best for the beach but I always say 'any day at the beach is a beautiful day'....as evidenced by this shot of the beach at breakfast one morning.

Our original plan was to relax on the beach for two days then I had class on the third and hubby would hang on the beach. The first two days were windy and rainy but Rich did manage a bit sitting down by the waves ( he was the only person there). Luckily, class day shaped up very nicely for him...sunny and clear!

The rainy weather allowed me to spend more time with some dear friends and get some shopping done in Salty Yarns.

Here are photos of my purchases..... luckily we got a discount from the shop for taking a class!

I love four seasonal designs and had never seen these by Just Nan.

JCS ornament  issue, fabric for Jax's stocking and more thread for Harriett Salt

Misc charts

Class day was Thursday with Jackie du Plessis. I have been anxiously waiting for this class since she first posted a 'teaser' in 2019. It includes the "doily" you see pictured with a lovely four seasonal theme (got me again) and a small needle/pin roll that will fit in the box.

But the Va-va-va voom piece is this precious little box (approx. 2 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches) with the scrimshaw insert!!! Be still my heart!!!

There will be the other three seasons to follow and I will be waiting with bated breath!!!

I always come away with something new to me from these classes. One things was method of doing a hem stitch I had never seen.  I have always worked left to right, but Jackie did her version right to left and I loved it! It's so sweet and delicate! I hope I'll remember it when the time comes!!!

I also think I may FINALLY have the spider trellis stitch down...it's not perfect but it's the best I've ever done...except for that upper left corner!!!

We received fabulous goodie bag full of finishing aids..we are always so very spoiled at Salty!!!

I always am sad to leave my 'home away from home' but I will be back in a few weeks for the DVHSG retreat and Jamboree.

And It's a Wrap......

The Costume Party is in full swing....although a few stragglers are yet to appear. This was a fun stitch.... thanks to Cathy at Hands on Design.

My fabric has a little more of a purplish cast to it..I did mine on 32 ct Thunderstorm with called for DMC.

Quick post as we're getting ready to head out, but wanted to share this before I left. Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

I have not been slacking.......

I hope you are having a wonderful Labor Day weekend celebrating the passing of another summer. I am already getting energized thinking about the coming cooler weather, upcoming retreats, craft shows, etc..

I didn't post the last couple days  because I didn't have much to share. But I was busy working on some project bags for Lori at Notforgotten Farm. She saw one I had made for me when I visited her studio a couple weekends ago and asked if I'd make some for her upcoming open house. I thought about it, was able to get more of the fabric and decided to do it. I love the fabric I found at JoAnn's for the outside, but especially love the surprise inside!!! Spooky!!!!

I am also caught up with the Costume Party by Hands on Design, Part 2. Part 3 drops today and I will try to hop right on it.

Today, I will be busy packing for a quick trip to OCMD. We are going up for a couple days on the beach (though the weather doesn't look too good) then I am taking a class on Thursday with Jackie DuPlessis. So, if I don't post for a few days, you know why.

Happy Labor Day and thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

Welcome to The Costume Party .......

Happy day 2 of September.....I do believe the "ber" months are my favorites of the year!!!

I finished the first part of the Costume Party by Hands on Design. It's shaping up to be a cute little stitch.

I thought I'd share my pieces that I swap out on a monthly basis since I switched them up yesterday. The oldest is from 1990 and the most recent, 2019.

Leisure Arts Holiday House 1990

From a Leisure Arts Heart Themed book 1992

A New Month and a Cute Little Start.......

Today I'll start my  Costume Party SAL with Cathy from Hands on Design. She posted the first section at 'O dark thirty' this morning and I have gathered all my supplies and am ready to go. I pulled things from my stash so I am using a different fabric, 32 ct Thunderstorm and the called for DMC threads. I did make the thread drops but am I using them...no!!! I have my DMC bobbinated and am too lazy to take it off and hang from the drops. I get all caught up in things sometimes and my practical nature slips away! LOL   Stay tuned to see what develops. We get the next two parts on the 3rd and 5th, followed by a tutorial and an bonus design.

We have a visitor today...this is Luke, one of our grand pups!
