Ornaments #4 ......(351-353)

Today's Stroll features more ornaments...I hope you're not getting bored!!! These are "sister" ornaments from my other daughter's. The snowflake girl (1994) is by Patrick's Woods, the Santa (1991) from Astor Place and the tin angel (1988) unknown.

I have done a complete about face on my ornaments to the grand kids this year. I started stitching ones from Hands on Design on perforated paper (you will see a shot of it later on) that have the 'chalkboard' look. I love them but they are taking way to long to stitch!!! So I found some adorable small frames at Michael's yesterday and am looking for small designs I can stitch over one to fit. I got one stitched last night but forgot to bring it home with me. I'll try to post a photo of it tomorrow.

So, part of our babysitting duties this week has been to "stage" Asher and Cora's Elf on a Shelf. My daughter has been doing this for years and they still get excited about it. Every morning they wake up to Nippy and DJ having gotten into some mischief over night. Yesterday they woke up to find the elves sleeping on a bed of snowman Peeps ....must have had a busy night at Santa's workshop!!!

Last night it seems Nippy and DJ decided they wanted to help me out!!! DJ even has the needle in her hand!!!  Any ideas for the next two nights would be welcome!!!

Hope you're having some holiday fun and thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

Ornaments #3 .....(348-350)

Grandkids off to school and I've got some time to get things done. I'll be sharing more ornaments today--I really love hand made ornaments. One day I'll show some of the ones I had my girls make for friends and relatives when they were young....but not today! :)

Here are three Santa's that hang on our tree, another Astor Place Santa (1991) on perforated paper, a Santa (1987) stitched over one on 18 count Davos.....maybe I was ahead of my time with the over one stitching :).... and a Twisted Threads design, Santa's Beard (1997). The one on Davos was published on a greeting card, but I can't recall the design company. Edited: This was called Folk Art Santa by Graphique Greetings.

Off to run some errands.....thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

Ornaments #2....(345-347)

Well, my daughter and SIL got off this morning at 5:30AM and we have taken over the kiddies. Got them off to school on time and fully dressed and fed, so that's a score!!!

Today's Stroll is more Christmas ornaments. The stocking (1990) is needlepoint, the snowman (1992) is cross stitch on aida and Let it Snow (1993) is a Mill Hill kit on perforated paper with Mill Hill ceramic buttons.

I heard the "s" word mentioned in the weather forecast for Friday, just a mix with rain.....maybe winter is finally coming to Richmond!

Ornaments a Plenty.....(342-344)

I've been decorating the tree today and thought ornaments would be appropriate for the Stitch Stroll. I'll be sharing a number of them over the next few days. I'll try to state the designer if I know it, but many were done when my girls were little and I have no idea from whence they came, except that I stitched them. I started doing one a year for them, but as they grew and our lives got busier, they fell by the wayside. I have resurrected the tradition with the grand kids however.

Of these three, I know the upper right was from Patrick's Woods (1994) and the Santa (1991), which is on perforated paper, is from Astor Place. The angel (1988)...who knows!!!

Tomorrow we have to be at my daughter's house at 5 o'dark thirty. To get a flight on such short notice, they are driving to Dulles, leaving their car and renting one to drive to Newark, NJ. From there they'll fly to Frankfort, then Brussels and finally to Freetown. Coming home they just have to fly to Brussels and from there to Dulles. So we're taking care of Asher and Cora for the rest of the week...wish me luck!

NOEL ....(341)

We got the news late yesterday afternoon that our friend passed and is finally at peace. Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts; it meant a lot.

I'm a little late posting today...took a hike....rearranged the furniture to make room for the tree .....got the tree up and the lights on... laundry...and then realized I forgot the blog. So here is my Stroll piece for today. I think it came out of a book I borrowed from the library in 1989, but I'm not totally sure. I stitched it on white perforated paper, cut the letters out and that's as far as I got. I think it would look cute on a long piece of ribbon, so off to Hobby Lobby tomorrow.

Hopefully this time next week I'll be telling you I've met my two new grand children---fingers crossed!

December.....(340)

Today's Stroll piece is the last of the Shepherd's Bush Fold series, December.

I went to the VGN Christmas lunch today and it was lovely. We had a talk on felted wool sculptures and made a little felted 'fob'. Sharon, one of our members, made us sweet little pin holders out of salt shakers filled with gold beads for the 50th anniversary of the guild. This is getting filed away for future reference!

There was a pottery sale going on, at the church where we meet, for a local charity so I checked it out after the meeting. Won't this make an adorable ort container???

And to end....we got wonderful news yesterday! The path is cleared for my daughter and son-in-law to travel to Sierra Leone and bring home James and Esther. They leave early Tuesday morning and return late Saturday night. So very soon we will be the proud new grandparents of two darling children. I will post pics as soon as I can. Plans are to keep things very low key for the Christmas season as they will be quite overwhelmed with our culture as compared to theirs.

I'm Back.......(336, 337, 338,339)

It's been a rough few days but we are glad we went to say our goodbyes. It was tough to do, but I'm so glad we made the trip. Thank you for all your kind comments and understanding.

I'm going to post the past three days and today's Stroll pieces all in this one post, so I can get caught up. Bear with me since it may be photo heavy and not much chit-chat! :)

First up is Sweet Little Blossoms, a Merry Cox class I took in 2010.

Presentation Bag

Next up is Bunny Garden Needleroll by Praiseworthy Stitches, done in 2011. This kit came in the cute little plastic carrot and I keep it rolled up and stored in there.

Next is my last Stroll piece for November and it was stitched for a very special little girl, our granddaughter Cora. It is her birth sampler by La-D-Da and is called This is the Day, stitched in 2010.

Last, but not least, is my first Stroll piece of December. I plan to focus on Christmas pieces for this month...go figure! So, here is A Year in Chalk-December by Hands on Design. The picture on the right is how they are displayed. I found the easel at Hobby Lobby and covered the back with the chevron fabric. I have velcro attached to that and the back of each monthly design, so my daughter switches them out easily.

It feels good to be back in the saddle again...thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!
