Apres Halloween.......(315)

Here is the other pillow I stumbled across in the unpacked moving box; it appears I had used these to "cushion" framed photos and forgotten about them. Up today for the Stroll is Halloween Folio by Shepherd's Bush, stitched in 1995. I did the finishing as shown on the chart but with different fabrics...this was from my 'country' stage with the ruffles!!!

Here's the fabric on the back:

Last night's stitching got me a little closer to finishing the Blue Band Sampler SAL, but after planting 150 bulbs yesterday, I was pooped! And, I had to enlist the hubby for help! After about a dozen, I had a blister (even with gloves) on my right palm from trying to twist that darn bulb planter tool through 6 " of wet clay!!! Ugh!!! Thankfully, we'll only have to do this once and....those puppies better come up in the spring!!!!

A Little Late to the Party..... (314)

Over  the weekend I was organizing my sewing room and trying to empty out some final boxes from our move...over a year ago. When what to my wondering eyes should appear but...... the two Halloween pillows I had been maniacally searching for!!! So, I am going to share one today and one tomorrow or they may slip back into the abyss.

For today I have Scaredy Cat by Ewe and Eye and Friends, stitched in 1997. Originally, I had appliqued this to the back of a black felted wool vest I had made. But since I'm not a big vest 'wearer', I re-purposed into a pillow. To give you an idea of size, the stitched square is 8 X 8 and the overall pillow size is 11 X 16.

Now to put them someplace I'll remember for next Halloween!  Hope you're off to a good week!

A November Snowman....(313)

Happy first day of DST---hope you got that extra hour of sleep in! Me...I was up after my normal 8 hours, but hope that means I have an extra hour to stitch today. I don't like when it gets dark early; I usually go though an "adjustment" period where I fall asleep in my chair around 9:00PM, wake up an hour or two later and stumble zombie-like into bed. But then, after a few nights of more sleep than I need, I bounce back into my old groove.

Today's Stroll piece is my third, and last, Snowman of the Month-November by Curtis Boehringer, stitched in 1995. I wish I could motivate myself to stitch the rest of the series, it sure would make a cute quilt!!! But it's not my "bag" anymore.... maybe one day!

Yesterday my daughter had an early birthday party for Cora. Her actual birthday is November 30th, but signs (fingers crossed) are pointing to the fact we may be getting our 2 grandchildren from Africa soon and then things will get a little CRAZY around here. Cora loves all things "Paris" so my daughter rented a room at Michael's and showed the girls how to make a painting of the Eiffel Tower. I couldn't believe how quiet and intent they all were on the projects. Here is a shot of their smiling faces and finished "oeuvrues d'art"!

My daughter also made a frame and had a photo taken of each girl and Cora. I got in on the action too!

Double header baseball game today! Enjoy your Sunday!

Gathering Pinecones....(312)

Yesterday's temps here were in the low 80's.....perfect night for some baseball...though you'd think it would be football weather. Today, temps will be in the 50's....Mother Nature, please make up your mind and let Autumn come breezing in. Here is a shot of Asher pitching last night.

On to some Strolling..... today's piece is Gathering Pinecones by Hillside Samplings, stitched in 1999. The ceramic button in the center was an option, purchased separately, but I liked it. This was a piece where everything came together perfectly, the fabric ( you can see the subtle over dye in the close ups), thread colors and frame. I have some shots of the pine cones as they were completed with different textural stitches.

And on the current stitching front,  am working to finish up the stitching on the Blue Band SAL...so close!!!

A Checkered Bird....(311)

Today's Stroll piece is an oldie from 1999 called Checkerbird. It was a mini kit from Heart in Hand and came with the small tuckaway pillow. The "pumpkin" fabric was actually black but has faded with time to a purplish hue. I added the cording for hanging.

I heard about a great blog by someone named Priscilla awhile ago and finally got around to checking it out...OMG...the finishing ideas!!! If you haven't checked this out, please do...you will be inspired and wowed!!! Here is a link to her latest blog post with a fabulous display!

We drove my parents home yesterday...a long day but we made good time until we were about an hour from home on the return trip. Then we hit a massive traffic jam on I-95 and it took us almost an hour to go 6 miles.....Argh!!!! So I am catching up today on laundry, grocery shopping etc... and hopefully a little stitching!

Another two-fer.....(309-310)

Somehow I also missed posting the October Shepherd's Bush Fold piece from 2001 so, I am posting that and November today. Sorry these are a little blurry, but I took them last night, knowing we were leaving early in the morning to take my parents home.

Short and sweet!

Strolling into November...(307,308)

November...when the end of the year begins to loom into focus. Yikes!!! I hate to repeat the old adage...but time really does fly!!!

Another Halloween has past and we went from a few trick or treaters last year to almost running out of candy this year; our little neighborhood is growing! Here are a few shots from Halloween: my parents, Cora as Alice in Wonderland and four generations of lovely ladies. Asher wore a scary clown mask and I only have a photo of him with friends and don't like to post their photos w/o permission.

Now on to strolling.....I forgot to post my October Year in Chalk by Hands on Design last month so I'm sharing that and November today.

I managed to get a little stitching done on my Blue Band Sampler SAL. We got the final band last Friday plus a bonus chart. I can't wait to unfurl this banding!!!

Last day with the parents; we'll be taking them home tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!
