I have all your e-mails and will contact you for your mailing addresses. Thanks for entering and I hope you enjoy your charts.

I'll share a few finishes and WIPs but am trying to keep this short today. I FFO'd three projects since I last posted. First up is the French Bee Etui by Heartsease Sampler Workes. This was designed to fit in an old Whitmans tin...and it did so beautifully.  This was my last start of 2020 and is stitched on 36 ct. Maritime White by Lakeside Linens with silks and Kreinik metallics.

The next FFO is Hot Cocoa (on the right) by Little House Needleworks. This is my March ornament in the #12in21ornamentstitchalong hosted by Carol (Stitching Dreams) on IG. This was stitched on a 30 ct. mystery linen with DMC. I changed the original red to a more Christmas red than what was called for and added a mug charm to the bow.

The deign on the left is from the Prairie Schooler Just Hatched chart. This was stitched on 28 ct. antique white linen with the called for DMC's. I stitched this last year for a class with my Guild that was sadly cancelled due to Covid. Although we did get the kits and instructions , I decided to go another way with it and made a flat finish. The original finishing idea was to mount the stitched piece on a large styrofoam egg and add a backing fabric and shirred fabric, at the joins,  to entirely cover the egg. It was a little too frou frou for me. The lovely ribbon that surrounds my egg was a gift from my dear freind, Paola..it really makes the piece!

I am continuing on all my SAL's and completed the stitching on March's Wordplay by Brenda Gervais.

I may have found my finishing idea for this series, but have to play around with it a bit before I dive in.

I had my Irish soda bread with Kerry Gold butter for breakfast and am decked out in my "green". I am a descendant of McNamaras on my Mom's side of the family. Sadly we don't know much about them as my great grandparents, who were immigrants from Ireland,  died in the flu epidemic of 1918 and left my grandfather and three siblings orphaned.  My grandfather, who was 10, was taken in by some neighbors. His two brothers were adopted by a well to do family, and he never knew what happened to his infant sister until she tracked him down many, many years later. I've been thinking about them a lot during this time of Covid and it makes me sad to think what they had to go through. But I do have a fun memory of being at my grandparents house on St. Patricks Day and them getting phone calls from total strangers singing McNamara's Band!

So, get your "green" on .......and thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

Stasi

Okay, so I have to say something about the "Codd" shirt. Codd is my maiden name and my Dad has always told us we were 100% English from his side if the family. Turns out, when we did a DNA test on him, he's 33% Irish!!! So, this is my little joke on him!

  1. Lovely finishes you shared, Stasi! You are the 4th-5th person to mention Kerry's Gold butter, so I am going to look for it at the store the next time I go. Congratulations to the winners of your giveaway! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  2. I’m so excited about winning the Hot Cocoa pattern. Thank you. Am looking forward to hearing about your Word Play finishing. I have those patterns and would like to start stitching them so I can begin displaying them next January. Donna G. 3. What a lovely St. Patrick's Day surprise, Stasi! Thank you so much--I look forward to stitching that cute chart :)

Loved hearing about your family history, sad as it was. I just finished a great book about the 1918 flu epidemic called The Orphan Collector (if you haven't already read it). So, as it turns out--you have quite a bit of Irish blood. Your French Bee Etui finishes are all so tiny and intricate--beautiful stitching and finishing and I love the pretty tin. Great ornament and PS bunny, too. I'm so enjoying seeing everyone's ornaments each month!

Enjoy the rest of your St. Patrick's Day! And thank you! ♣ ♣ ♣

  4. The Whitman's tin design looks lovely, the fabric you have used for the base is perfect, or maybe you have added some cord in a diamond pattern? Delighted to have won one of the charts, thank you.

  8. Your French Bee in the Whitman's tin is just perfect!! Love your finishing on both Hot cocoa and especially on the sweet bunny.
What a sad story about your family, I wonder if you did a DNA test on yourself could you track down some of the relatives? My great grandfather was one of ten children and the only one that immigrated from Ireland. I have often thought about seeing if we could track down some "Irish relatives."
Looking forward to seeing your idea for your wordplays and love your shirt!!
