A Diminutive Sewing Set Part 1.....(267)

We've been traveling all day...hence the late post. The wedding yesterday was wonderful and so full of love. It was outside at a campground (with cabins instead of tents) and was a beautiful setting.

On to stitching...my Stroll piece today is A Diminutive Sewing Set , a class by Merry Cox taken in 2006. This project consists of a lovely wooden tray filled with beautiful smalls (I'll be sharing them tomorrow) all fitting into a sweet presentation bag. I stitched this in honor of my grandmothers who I was named after....Mary (my father's mother and Anastasia (my mother's mother), so their initials/names are used throughout. Funny story.....Anastasia was my grandmothers given birth name but she didn't care for it. So, when she came of age, she legally changed her name to Estelle. I am so ever thankful my parents didn't choose that name....all I can think of is Marlon Brando yelling "Stella...Stella...!

So the plaid silk bag holds the wooden tray and sports a stitched ribbon with my name and grandmothers initials.

Here is a shot of the tray nestled in the bag. holding all the smalls. More to come tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

  4. Oh my goodness, I couldn't imagine changing your name from Anastasia to Estelle!! And, I thought of the Seinfield show with Elaine yelling Stella...

Your bag with the tray is so sweet, I am always impressed with the detail of your projects. This one is no exception. Love how it looks like a gift with the fabric bow and the little stitched tags.
The wedding sounds lovely, so nice to get away even for a short time.

  5. Anastasia is much prettier than Estelle ... but clearly your grandmother didn't think so! Don't think I've ever seen the bag for this project before - beautiful work, as always, and I look forward to seeing the delights that live in the tray.
