A Re-Visit........

The weather here has been perfect the last few days, but rain from Ian is on the way. My heart goes out to all the people in FL that are dealing with the hurricane and its aftermath....so devastating!!!

I pulled out the sampler I've designated for my Sampler Camp with Colorado Stitcher, We Live in Hope by Blackbird. I started it awhile ago and got the top third, or so, done. Last evening I worked on the vines and berries working their way down the sides. We are supposed to change something up in the design and I am working on an idea I have.

Here is where I had left over a year ago....

VA State Fair

Yesterday was a gorgeous fall day so we went to the VA State Fair.

I was sad to see there weren't more needlework items on display, but got the feeling they only show the top ribbon winners. Here are the two I liked:

There was a fun display in one of the tents of old household items...here are a few that caught my eye:

My Mom had one of the old Coke bottle with a "sprinkler" on top

But this was really cool...never seen a hoop like this... the rings were so 'thick' ......the the lady wasn't sure where it came from. Have any of you seen one like this?

That's it for my highlights of the Fair! Overall, it was a lot of rides, junk food and very expensive!!!

Some Redwork Stitches......

I've worked a bit more on the red stitch band and am really enjoying it. It goes quickly since rows are short and only using one color. I have opted to leave out the pulled and hem stitched bands and pull some stitches from other sources. Everything above the Banded Cross is from the original project....below is from other sources.

I'm going to keep going until I run out of stitches...or steam!

Here is my camp badge on my project bag. Now if I can find the time to work on my chosen sampler. I have way too much to do by Christmas!!!

We went to an escape room Saturday with my daughter and granddaughters and were tomb raiders for a night. This was our second experience (different theme) doing this and we had failed horribly the first time with my brother and SIL. This time we made it out with 3 minutes to spare...it was tight but we did it!!! These are fun and challenging; it was good to have 'younger' brains working with us.

Not a Lot of Stitching Going on.....

This is always a busy time of year.....sports events for the grands, craft shows, retreats, etc......so......buckle up buttercup!!! My daughter's day care provider did not have her baby yet, so I am off stand by duty until the end of October. Other family members were scheduled to cover this week; my hubby is going down next week (I want to be a fly on the wall) so I can attend my events at Salty Yarns. Then my SIL is taking 3 weeks family leave.

I did work some more on the baby's stocking......

......and got my badge done for Sampler Camp with the Colorado Stitcher. This will be adhered to my 'Camp" project bag made by my friend, Lisa.

If you're interested in the virtual camp, here is the info:

Where There's a Will, There's a Way........

Here's my set up for stitching, in the dark, while waiting for grandson at soccer practice. Worked great!!!

I managed to get two more Wordplays stretched and laced.

I got some fun fabric in the mail.

It's cross stitch!!!

My granddaughter did great in her first cross country meet....2 1/2 miles in almost 90 degree temps...she came in #23 out of 40!! So proud...it was hot and we didn't think to take water and/or chairs. Luckily the whole thing only took about an hour.

Finally a Wordplay Finish....670-681

I have pondered long and hard over how I wanted to finish the Wordplay series by With Thy Needle and Thread. I knew I wanted to be able to change them out monthly with no fuss and keep on the small/simple side. I finally found a frame at JoAnn's, awhile ago, that would work size-wise. I painted the frame red and stained the hanger. Then I started to stretch and lace the pieces. As always happens, they are never a perfect fit; I had a little bit of space showing, which bothered me. So I started the hunt for a trim that would fit, not be too overwhelming,  not be too time consuming to add to 12 different pieces (I'm so over these by now) .... and I liked the look of. I tried chenille, ric-rac, various ribbons etc. Then I tried this trim I had in my stash and glued it to the inside edge of the frame so you only see the white rope-like part. I can pop the pieces in and out.....it's a tight fit but doable. Voila!!!

Now to stretch and lace the other 10 pieces......

I got a little more done of the stocking.

Off to watch granddaughter in her first cross country competition this afternoon...not sure how that's going to work as they run through the woods on a path...I guess we just wait at the finish line---will see!!!

Christmas is Coming.........

......and another stocking is on its way! I was waiting on linen to match his parents stockings, so am a little behind, but aim to have done for his first Christmas.

The chart is Reindeer Christmas Stocking by Rosewood Manor.

I am stitching on 28 ct. White Chocolate linen with a conversion from DMC to Anchor floss.

 Here are his parent's stockings:

Not Much Stitching Going On......

It's been a busy weekend with soccer and baseball games, car shopping, laundry, etc.. I did get a bit done yesterday on a Christmas gift, which I can't share, while at Buffalo Wings and Things  watching the Ravens game. It wasn't on our local TV channels and so we went there to watch...what an experience!!! These people literally eat and drink football. It was very loud and we couldn't hear the commentary, but I happily stitched after we ate while Rich watched the game.....which was a bummer in the end!

A lot of my time was spent putting some projects together. I am on standby to go to NC and take care of my newest grandbaby over the next couple months. His day care provider is having a baby of her own and will be taking maternity leave. My daughter's only option is a day care center where she has been #4 on the list for months. Sadly, there are not many options where she lives so between us, my SIL's relatives and friends, we are trying to get the baby covered. I am looking forward to some time there with the baby, just not sure when it will happen, but I am ready stitching-wise! :)

I had signed up for Sassy Jack's Soiree this past weekend but wound up missing most of it...luckily it's all recorded and I can check it out at my leisure.

Here is the little bit of stitching I managed one evening.

Hope you are off to a good week. I'm excited fall officially starts this week though our temps are still upper 80's...ugh!!!

The Last Little Straggler ......

 ,,,,has arrived....a little black kitty!!!

And here they all are gathered together for some serious trick or treating!!!

Yesterday at our Guild meeting we made paper beads that we can use for a scissor fob or jewelry. It was fun and I got a start on a fob. I'm going to add a little bling to it (the larger pink one) when I get a chance.
Our program chair this year is in Washington State and we have a local member "facilitating' here. It went amazingly well..we had a large TV screen  and could all see the teacher, and she could see all of us.

I got a little bit more done of the specialty stitch piece; I am really enjoying it!

Hope you have  a great weekend; I am loving these cooler night time temperatures and sleeping with my window open. Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

Another Party Goer Joins US......

The Count decided to wake from his deep sleep and join the Costume Party. There is one more little attendee to stitch, but Cathy hinted in a recent floss tube there may be more coming! I am going to hold off on a FFO until I see if I get more RSVP's!

Then.....am I crazy or what....I started a new project. I had seen this a few years ago and was attracted to it because I thought it was on banding and came with a cool spool. Come to find out it was on linen and the whole 36" or so was nun stitched......NOT!!! So, I've been on the hunt for a banding that would fit the spools...had to be under 2 1/2"....and found some last weekend at Salty Yarns. The designer had used various colors for the bands but I decided to do it all in Thread Gatherer In the Burgandy.  The piece is called Specialty Stitch Spool Wrap by Stitching Treasures. It goes fast...I just started last night...and I'll be learning a bunch of stitches! Win-win!

We have our first Guild meeting today and will be learning how to make paper beads, I think for a scissor fob. It should be interesting as our main program chair lives in Washington state and will be teaching via zoom and e-mailed instructions. What amazing times we live in!

Finally Made a Decision........669

I was able to fit all the iStitch Denim Sampler Band on my piece of banding (remember, there was an issue with a flaw at the top 10 inches or so of my banding) and had approximately 2" at the bottom of 'open space'. One of my fellow SAL ladies graciously posted a tribute to the Queen in honor of her Jubilee. With the recent passing of the Queen, I thought this was the perfect ending for my band sampler.

Here are a few close-ups:

I stitched this in Gloriana Elizabethan Green, with touches of red for the hearts.
