We (hubby and I) started our day today with a different kind of stroll....a hike in Pocahontas State Park. We walked the Forest Exploration Trail, about 2.25 miles. There were lots of signs posted noting the types of trees we were passing and I finally learned the name of a tree that has always caught my eye. The bark is larger than most trees and I always imagined them to be like the trees in Lord of the Rings, protectors of mankind. Well, they are called Loblolly Pines (try saying that fast five times) and are mostly found in swampy, low lying areas. Hence my surprise they are within the state park, but the soil is very sandy there and we did see some swampy areas off the beaten path. Here's a close up of their bark.
The stitch stroll piece today is G is for.............
Now my stash purchases from the Super Bowl Sale at Salty Yarns. I got some Christmas charts, maybe one will get done by Christmas.
Then I got a couple stitchy related charts.
And some fabric, one for my daughter and son-in-law's stockings (left) and one, just because I liked it!!!
Finally I bought two frames, one for Let it Bee (right) and one for a Lizzie Kate (can't remember the name and I'm too tired to go and look for it). Sorry!
There you have it! Now I'm off to do laundry and help hubby pull tax info together! :(
Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!

It sounds like you had a good stroll through the state park today, Stasi. Another cutie in your alphabet portion of the stitching stroll. You came home with a good selection of new stash. Do you have the stocking patterns already picked out? Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tree pic, Stassi, and I had no idea that a Loblolly was a type of pine! Your walk sounds lovely, and far, good for you two.
ReplyDeleteYour "G" is so pretty, I love the colors..and the buttons are adorable.
Your stash is great! I can't wait to see what all comes out of it, such fun!
