Christmas Tide......(438)

Today's Stroll piece is an old Shepherd's Bush chart, Christmas Folio. I made my pillow just as shown on the chart; I was even able to find the exact fabric they used. I think I did this in 1995.

Love is All You Need......(437)

I'm very late posting today because we left early to drive my parents home and have finally, after lots of Friday afternoon traffic, arrived home. Whew!!!

But this worked out well since I wanted to share a piece I did for my parents and couldn't find a photo here at home. Today is a special day for my parents, as well as our family, as it is their 66th wedding anniversary. On their 50th anniversary, I stitched a sampler for them. It is Honor Thy Father by R&R Reproductions. I changed the design to say 'honor thy parents', added myself and my siblings and motifs that would mean something to them and/or stood for the qualities in their marriage.

Here they are on their wedding day, cutting the cake!

I'm making these last two stockings part of my official Stitch Stroll. They were made this past summer for my daughter and her husband. We have the Victorian Christmas stocking.....

and Cranbery Row, both by Rosewood Manor.

And More Stockings were Hung.....(431-434)

Today's Stroll pieces are another set of stockings  made for one of my brothers and his family. They were prefinished stockings and you just had to sew a design on the band at the top. I'm not sure where the designs came from, but they each stand for the first letter of the name   T is for toys, J is for Jingle, etc.. They were done 25 years ago.

A Whole Lotta Stockings Going on.....(408-430)

I'm posting this tonight since we'll be heading out early tomorrow.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day. Ours was met with some ups and downs as the new grandkids were indoctrinated into Christmas, American style!!! We tried our best to keep it low key, but it was still overwhelming. However, Esther showed some interest in my stitching, so I pulled out a little kit I had at the ready and she picked it right up. Note, her baby doll on her back...she took a large piece of bubble wrap we had and tied the doll to her back, as I'm sure they did in her home country...pretty cool!!!

The Stroll piece for today actually consists of 23 mini stockings that I did for my parents to hang at their house. They represent my parents, my siblings, their spouses and my nieces and nephews. I stopped at that point and have never done ones for the Nieces and nephews spouses , nor the great nieces and nephews. However, my Mom has added small ones she bought to fill in that gap.  I took some of these from various mini stocking leaflets and others from Christmas designs I tweaked to fit the shape.

Sorry the photos are a bit on the blurry side; I'll have to try for a better picture at my Mom's tomorrow. We are driving to Baltimore to get my parents and bring them back to meet their new great grandchildren.  At the same time, my younger daughter is driving up with her husband from North Carolina for the very same reason. It looks to be a busy week!!!

Thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendhip! A final Merry Christmas!!!

A very Merry Christmas.....(407)

A very Merry Christmas from me to you and yours. I wish you a joyous day with family and friends and hope you all got what you wanted for Christmas. We sure did this year with the addition of James and Esther to our family. We were able to go to my daughters early this morning and watch the grandkids open presents. It was a little chaotic but everyone loved what they got. James had told my daughter right before bed last night that he really was wishing for some money. So, she took back one of his gifts and gave him a $20 bill in an envelope....you would have thought he won the lottery...he was jumping up and down, hooting and hollering. It was priceless! It will be interesting to see what he decides to do with it.

My Stroll piece today is one I made back in the 70's. It was a crewel kit and came with the tree shaped, wooden frame. It depicts the story of the Night Before Christmas, but I'll bet you already figured that out! :)  I'm glad I took this picture of it last year because I haven't been able to find it this year. I'm hoping I had forgot to pack it away with the decorations last year and just "stuck" it somewhere, but I have looked everywhere but to no avail. I'm sure it will turn up, but I'd rather it sooner than later!!!

So again, Merry Christmas and thanks for your "twisted threads" of friendship!

And the Stockings Were Hung.....(403-406)

Are you all ready for the Big day...or scrambling to do last minute tasks/errands? You can "stick a fork in me"...I'm done!!! I finished up my house cleaning this morning and can now rest until we go to church at 2:00, followed by dinner at my daughters...phew! I do have to admit I had some help with the cleaning spree...this is how a man does it (note the head lamp)!!!

My Stroll pieces today are another set of Christmas stockings that I stitched for my oldest and dearest friend and her family back in the late 80's early 90's. We've been friends since grade school---over 55+ years!!! The stockings were a series called Victorian Christmas by a designer/artist called Charles Ross. There were at least 8 of them and I did 4. I sewed them flat to a piece of red felt and did a decorative stitch around the edge on my sewing machine. Here you go:

I happened to stumble across an old project while tidying and thought I'd go ahead and finish it up for next Christmas. It's an old Black Sheep Night kit from Ewe and Eye and Friends called Olde St. Nicholas. I only have to finish the beard, eyebrows, moustache and hat band. It's a bigger piece, approx. 9X6.5 inches, so not exactly an ornament, but fun nonetheless.

So, finish up your last minute preps, relax and start to enjoy the blessings of this special day!
Merry Christmas to all, thanks for stopping by and your "twisted threads" of friendship!
